I am writing this report today, though more than a year passed
since I received my first in-the-mail success.
I was very happy to receive his reply, because Gorbachev to me was
a very important figure:
- Main thing - he was a president of the country I lived and which not
existing anymore (USSR). Now I live in Latvia which was a lart of USSR
in Soviet time. I am really proud of it.
- He was THE FIRST MAN to start the wind of change, who end the time
of shitty-socialism in my country.
- I liked him a lot as a smart political figure.
We have argued with a few collectors ragarding the authenticity, but
finally settled it's OK, because it was comparable with really 'in-person'
ones. On my site there is such comparison and closer look to the signature.
-
Many people told me I was lucky and that he is not an 'easy to get'.
I don't know. Really. May be it was because my letter was in Russian,
may be he considered it really open and honest (it really was) or because
I am a russian who live outside Russia now... Anyway he replied to me and
I am happy to have his autographed photo to my name.
